Salsa UK
Paul Young is probably the best-known Salsa promoter in Europe. Founder of Salsa UK and brainchild behind countless events including the world famous UK Salsa Congress and The Brit SalsaFEST in Blackpool, Senor Young has been producing Latin dance and musical events for almost a decade.
The success of Salsa UK as leader in the world of Latin dance has been primarily down to Paul Young’s vision, drive and creativeness. And it could be argued that his “ brave” decision to bring the NYC off Broadway production of Latin Madness along with Spanish Harlem Orchestra to the 2003 UK Salsa Congress was a truly a monumental one…. one that changed the course of his salsa career forever.
That particular UK Congress was an “Earth shattering” experience for anyone who attended it and meant European salseros no longer needed to travel to the US/Carribean for world class Congresses when they could attend one of the best in the world on their own doorstep. And by doing so also secured for its founder international fame in the Salsa World.
Since then of course Paul and Salsa UK has been involved in the production of over 20 different Salsa Congresses around the world. He has also co produced 2 major outdoor London Festivals called Latin Splash attracting between them close to 20,000 attendees.
Paul has worked with virtually every major dance artists/group in the globe and has been credited with first finding and helping to establish many of the many of dance “stars” of today including Juan Matos, Salsa Dance Squad, Nuno & Vanda, Swinguys, Oliver & Luda, Jaime Jesus & Lil Liz, Los Hermanos and Big Spenders amongst others.
Paul has also promoted or worked with some of the world top international Salsa bands and musicians including Oscar D’Leon, Buena Vista Social Club, Omara Portoundo, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Johnny Polanco, Alex Wilson, Azuquita Salsa Celtica,
Unquestionably one of the most the most experienced and successful promoters in the world of Salsa Music and dance Paul Young claims he has not even begun to achieve his dreams of “… taking salsa music and dance to a another level of acceptance within the wider world …. Salsa is a universal language that cuts across nation states, religion, creeds and race it belongs on the moon! ”
So guess where he intends to take it next?
